Forth Queensferry Crossing Bridge is a cable stayed bridge in the so called “Firth of Forth”.

Mid-span joints finally connected

Queensferry Crossing is a 4-span cable-stayed bridge with two centre spans of 650 m. I was part of the Independent checker team responsible for the global analysis (i.e. SOFiSTiK model); my responsibilities included: updating and analysing the structural model for ‘in-service’ and construction stage scenarios, realistic modelling to accurately reflect the construction sequence and the loading on the structure during the staging analysis and retrieving and assessing load effects for comparison with the design values for a range of loading combinations. (Standards: BS EN).

The bridge has been included in the World Guinness Record list, as the bridge with the longest balanced cantilever ever constructed worldwide.
